my dad was a well liked down to earth person,he was very proud and sometimes very stubborn.he liked his sport especially cricket which he listened to continulessly, even at work he had the radio on.he liked football and was a keen footballer when he was younger playing for hannington as a goalie.one season he never let in a goal prompting scouts from swindon town and other teams to come and watch him,but he wasnt faced by it,saying he was a family man.he also played darts for a couple of teams, and his claim to fame was when he played jockie wilson and beat him, only a friendly though.he was very laid back and tried not to let anything get him down, but he would always speak his mind, and let you know if he didnt approve.we lived on a farm and he loved that way of life.i would go up the farm to help him most days, mainly to get out of the housework which was left to my sister,to her annoyance..well she didnt like farming and i was helping dad to finish work..i used to get away with alot then.he loved his food and the odd beer or 2 or 3.he used to be fun loving to.he would scare us to death on halloween,by jumping out at us,and pulling faces thru the window.if it snowed he would lie in wait when we got off the school bus,to mums annoyance,as she had to wash our uniforms.the first time i saw my dad cry was when his brother died,i did not know how to handle it,and for the first time didnt know how to comfort him,so had to call his sister...he was a great dad and i miss him everyday, they say times a healer, but how long does it take..love you dad...
